STUDENTI INTERNAZIONALI (INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS):
The course objective is to provide students with the critical tools for comprehending the historical lack of interest towards women's art up until the 1970's. The course will begin with a consideration of the title of Linda Nochlin's essay 'Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?' in order to analyze the ways in which women were able to get closer to the language of art starting from the 19th century when a private Paris academy allowed women to attend. The journey will begin with the first women impressionists, whose talent was recognized by fellow male colleagues, and will conclude with Frida Kahlo, the woman artist icon.
