OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI (COURSE OBJECTIVES):
Il corso intende mostrare come nell'ambito della Storia dell'Arte si possano trovare istanze teoriche ed estetiche che in maniera apparentemente dissimile portano avanti gli stessi argomenti, ovviamente aggiornati e rivisitati nella propria contemporaneità.
CONTENUTI E TEMATICHE (SUBJECT MATTER):
Esotismo ed estetismo.
Paralleli e divergenze nell'arte di fine Ottocento e di fine Novecento. Partendo dalle esperienze del Simbolismo ottocentesco e attraverso alcune esperienze del Novecento il corso punterà l'attenzione su quelle che sono tematiche comuni fra le varie correnti artistiche e sul nuovo concetto di Esotismo.

Per la parte contemporanea verranno presi in esame i seguenti artisti per ognuno dei quali verranno dati gli opportuni riferimenti bibliografici durante lo svolgimento del corso.

Exoticism and Aestheticism.
Parallels and differences in late nineteenth century and twentieth century art.
Starting from the symbolist experiences of the nineteenth and twentieth century the course will focus its attention on the new concept of Exoticism and also on those themes that are held in common between various artistic movements.
The course intends to show how in the context of art history it is possible to find theoretic and aesthetic instances that carry forward - in an apparently dissimilar way - the same arguments; arguments that will be obviously updated and reexamined within a contemporary framework.
