Analizzare i principali spettacoli del periodo fra Ottocento e Novecento.
CONTENUTI E TEMATICHE (SUBJECT MATTER):
La storia del teatro contemporaneo (autori, scenografie, spazi scenici) e della nascita del cinema.

Il corso si svolgerà in forma orale, con l'ausilio di proiezioni video di spettacoli e film inerenti al programma affrontato.

Gli esami saranno effettuati unicamente in forma orale.

- Topics: Wagner and the Bayreuth theatre / The Duke of Saxe-Meiningen company / The theatre of H. Ibsen / E. Zola, A. Antoine and French Naturalism / Stanilavskij, Cechov and the Art Theatre of Moscow / A. Appia and G. Craig / Strindberg and the Antirealist movement of German theatre.
- Methodological in depth study of: Russian symbolism and the development of the Art Theater of Moscow / Italian theatre of the 19th and 20th centuries / Theatre in the U.S.A. and the birth of cinema/ Technological innovations / Futurist theatre / Pirandello and the Theatre of the Grotesque.
- Specific student research projects: 5 theatrical works to choose from: H. Ibsen, The Doll House and The Woman of the Sea / H. Becque, The Crows / A. Schnitzler, Dream Story / A.
